Introduction/Project Overview
The One Körber HR Fundamental Rollout is a strategic initiative aimed at taking collaboration and HR IT systems to the next level within Körber worldwide. It involves implementing two group-wide HR IT systems, enhancing employee experiences, and establishing a common data basis. This ambitious project will transform HR processes across 24 countries within 12 months, embodying our company’s motto of #strongertogether.
With the One Körber HR Fundamental Rollout we are laying the groundwork for future strategic HR projects, enhancing collaboration and efficiency across the Körber group. By strategically implementing SAP SuccessFactors and MyHR by Service Now across all global Körber entities, we are streamlining HR processes, improving data accuracy, ensuring consistent and enhanced HR interactions, and providing access to a global knowledge base.
The Сhallenge
Körber faced significant challenges due to the lack of a unified global database for employee information. This fragmentation led to delays, inconsistencies in reporting, and a cumbersome manual data update process. The existing disparate HR IT systems across various locations also resulted in an inconsistent user experience, causing frustration among HR teams.
Our Strategic Approach
To address these challenges, we assembled a multinational project team with diverse knowledge backgrounds to implement the two new HR IT systems across all our global locations. We carefully analyzed and identified the must-haves for our common global data model and designed the scope to integrate local conditions with global requirements, ensuring both a focused and effective implementation, hence the project title Fundamental.
Cluster division and staged implementation for effective rollout: The HR systems were rolled out in stages to over 2,000 employees across 24 countries, divided into four clusters based on regional and cultural similarities, with each cluster undergoing the process sequentially.

This approach allowed us to tailor the implementation process to the specific needs and contexts of each cluster, ensuring smoother transitions and greater acceptance for the changes. With the support of our experienced project team, this phased approach, limited to 6 weeks per cluster plus hypercare phase, allowed us to manage the rollout efficiently. We implemented learnings from previously rolled-out clusters and provided dedicated support during each cluster’s transition.
Comprehensive training for local HR teams: We equipped local HR teams with expertise in the new HR IT systems through targeted training sessions and test systems. This ensured that each team was prepared to manage the new systems effectively, promoting a uniform approach across all regions.
Why Our Approach Stood Out
The decision to divide the countries into clusters and roll out the systems in stages was driven by the need to address local and cultural differences effectively. Our approach ensured:
- • Localized implementation: By considering regional differences in the existing HR systems landscape and cultural contexts, we tailored the implementation process to fit the specific needs of each cluster.
- • Efficient management: The phased rollout allowed us to focus on each cluster individually, providing the necessary support and ensuring smooth transitions.
- • Consistency and accuracy: Progressive training sessions and flexible consulting services ensured a uniform data foundation and user experience across all locations.
Our dedicated team, consisting of two project leads, two specialists as part of the project management office, two Project Operations specialists, two HR IT workstreams, and one workstream with a focus on communication, change management, and training placed a strong emphasis not only on the implementation but also on seamless integration and acceptance.
Outcome/Results
The rollout journey started in Thailand, as a pilot project and has been successful in Asia and Europe, receiving positive feedback from local HR teams as well as global HR management. The project has now reached the go-live phase in Cluster 2, with continued anticipation for similar successes in the remaining two clusters until the end of the year.
